Leeds Big Sleepover 8 – 10 October 2015
This year, Leeds Big Sleepover celebrates the wonderful cultural offering and unusual event spaces in the city; the programme will include a guided tour of the British Art Show 8, which will open at Leeds Art Gallery in October 2015, and Light Night Leeds.
As well as showcasing the cultural offer of the city, the three day familiarisation trip offers delegates an opportunity to sample what Leeds’ has to offer across a variety of sectors:-
Arts & Culture
The cultural, historical and architectural heritage of Leeds is well represented by a host of museums, theatres, stately homes and art galleries, from the national attractions of the Royal Armouries and the Thackray Medical Museum to the fine mansions of Harewood House and Temple Newsam. Leeds is also home to a collection of dance and theatre companies including Opera North, Northern Ballet and venues such as Ye Olde City Varieties, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds Grand and The Carriageworks to name but a few.
We all know Leeds is famous for the football, rugby, and cricket, but did you know we also have the hidden gems including award winning golf courses, top of the range spas and health & fitness facilities? Leeds will be hosting two Rugby World Cup 2015 games at Elland Road stadium, as well as having an Official Fanzone at Millennium Square.
Dubbed the ‘Knightsbridge of the North’ shopaholics are in for a treat as the city of Leeds boasts over 1,000 shops in a unique mix of stylish pedestrianised high streets, state-of-the-art shopping centres, Victorian arcades and the famous Kirkgate Market, not forgetting the most recent addition Trinity Leeds and the new Victoria Gate development which will open in 2016.
